Burnout & Well-Being

Join us for courses in patient safety leadership and caregiver resilience that cover burnout, mindfulness, safety culture, and quality improvement. Learn a variety of evidence-based, practical tools that you and your team can use immediately. Taught by Duke Health well-being experts: Bryan Sexton and Carrie Adair.

Enhancing Caregiver Well-Being (2 days)

Before we care about quality, we need to care about our work—and before that, ourselves. The data shows that healthcare worker burnout is reaching the breaking point, which can negatively impact quality and safety. To improve quality, we need to build caregiver resilience and capacity. This course is designed for caregivers in formal or informal leadership roles, including executives, physicians, and nurses. Participants receive real-time feedback on burnout, depression, health behaviors, human limitations and human nature, and they are given protected time to practice and to work on themselves and their units. This intense and rewarding experience is full of self-reflection, validation, coaching, and recharging those nearly-dead batteries.
